🐾 Night Growl Near Siletz River: Oregon Dogmen Rumors Return
Cryptids

📍 Lincoln County, Oregon | 🗓️ July 23, 2025 | 🧾 Category: Cryptid / Regional Canid

It wasn’t just the river that ran cold. 🌫️

Residents near the winding Siletz River were rattled late on the evening of July 22 when a series of deep, guttural growls echoed through the trees. The sounds were followed by the unmistakable rhythm of heavy, two-footed steps crashing through dense underbrush. 🌲👣

Jason M., a longtime local who lives off a forest access road, said the sound “froze my blood instantly.” He stepped outside with a flashlight, but the beam barely cut through the thick pine canopy. What he did see was enough to send him right back inside.

“There was something tall behind the alders, standing up like a man but with a huge wolf-shaped head. It sniffed the air, growled again, then disappeared into the dark.” 🐺

Neighbors down the road reported hearing the same growls. One woman noted that her dogs refused to go outside, even long after the sounds had faded. She also described a foul, musky odor that lingered in the air. 👃🐶

Cryptid researchers say the details line up with a string of Dogman-type sightings that stretch from northern California to coastal Washington. While Oregon has relatively few public reports, Lincoln County has quietly accumulated several eerie incidents over the years. One case from 2014 involved roof-level claw marks on a rural toolshed. 🪵🕳️

🌲 More Than Coyotes in the Trees?

Wildlife officials shrugged the event off as “possibly a bear” or a very confused elk. But the witnesses don’t buy it. As Jason put it,
“Whatever that was… it stood up and looked at me. That’s not a bear.” 👀
